For more than 40 years, I have traveled the world and shared my experiences through presentations, books, and television documentaries. I began by exploring all of the world's deserts, then ventured into the Arctic and Antarctica. For TERRA, an extensive photographic and geographical portrait of our planet, I also traveled for the first time to high mountain ranges, rainforests, and steppes. I am currently traveling and photographing for a new global photography project, scheduled for publication in 2030. In the autumn of 2028, I will present the autobiographical presentation Michael Martin – 50 Years of Adventure.

Over the past four decades, I have given more than 2,000 presentations, published over 30 illustrated books and books that have been translated into nine languages; most recently, two children's books and a motorcycle book appeared. In addition, I produced several travel documentaries for television.

My work has received many awards, including an honorary medal from the Royal Geographic Society, the Gregor International Calendar Award, and the ITB Book Award for my lifetime achievement. The magazine GEO dedicated a special GEO Extra edition to my work.
